A Tale Now Told

A tale forever untold is a tale never written, it is with this that I choose to tell you mine.

Throughout the ages I have gone through many names though many have been lost to time along with those I knew. I have cursed many tales to be buried with me but I’m not heartless, I write their stories all the same.

It’s said that those whose names never stopped being whispered into the night are never truly dead. Those who live in fear, envy or anger towards the spirits are the reason they continue to haunt the lives of those they hurt. The law of time states negative feelings multiply easier than positive ones, it's easier to hold onto hate than love.

I crouch next to the river stained in red, the same blood that coats my mind night after night. The white envelope is stained the second it touches the water. The viscous substance encases it within seconds with nothing but a small plop and a ripple being the only evidence it was ever disturbed.

In the envelope is a declaration, not of war or peace but of what simply is. It’s a declaration of what so many fail to see. It’s a truth that kills so many every season. It’s safe as it is dangerous, it is wanted as it is needed and it is everything and nothing. It is a statement of mortality that many won’t try to understand.

In the declaration is a truth that is cursed to float or sink in the river of blood until humanity is bled dry with the knowledge.

This is the tale of love and war that no-one wishes to share.
