The Magic Letter

I sent a letter, the best letter yet. The letter that no one will ever forget. It was white and had a red postage stamp. I posted it in our letter box, as blue as the sea. I said bye and off it flew. Bye, bye letter, see you soon.
My letter flew up but then it fell…down, down, down, down until a mouse found it. He said in surprise “That will make a good tent!”. He folded my letter into a tent and slept in it. The mouse went for a walk and my letter flew away.
My letter flew, flew until it fell…down, down, down and a bird caught it in his beak. He thought my letter was the best letter yet; the letter that no one would ever forget and he made it into a nest. The bird laid four, blue, speckled eggs and when they hatched…
My letter flew, flew, flew away until it fell…down, deep down onto the seabed and a mermaid found it. “That would make a beautiful fan to cool my scales on a hot sea day!” she said. When the mermaid went for a swim…
My letter, the best letter yet, flew, flew, flew, flew as high as the moon and down it floated into a crater. An alien used it for a picnic blanket to enjoy his favourite moon snacks. The moon winds blew and from beneath him…
My letter flew! The wind turned soft and careful. It carried my letter home. Down, down, down it came until it landed in my hands, full of stories of mice, birds, mermaids and aliens. It was still white with its red postage stamp. And it was still the best letter yet, the letter that no one will ever forget.
