A Story of survival

As death sounded its sirens, we ran to the one safe place left. I grabbed my phone, dog (Pom Pom), a bag, my favourite teddy and of course my diary. I started to write a diary when the war began. Let me introduce you to my family. My name is Livvy, I’m 12, my brother Rollo’s 9, my mum Molly is too old to count, my dad Theo and my dog, you have already met!
As dawn broke, we started the long walk ahead of us. We must walk to where the sun rises. We walked past broken streets, burnt towns, crowded lakes, past blood red rivers, hills that took our exhaustion to another level, just to get to the sea. As we walk, we wonder what our life will turn out like; there is only one way to find out and it’s beyond the horizon.
When we finally arrived, we had to wait in an extraordinarily long queue just to get past the border. As we built our tents, I started dancing as it’s the only way to get rid of my worries. It’s like a whole new peaceful world you can make through your body; it lets me let loose and feel free. Our biggest fear is the deadly sea, it’s too overcrowded on the boats and are extraordinarily claustrophobic, I did not like it one bit. When we finally got on the boat people were trying to grab us and the dog to make room for themselves, I was scared I would be grabbed and thrown off, luckily I was not. As we pushed off, we found ourselves floating through a sea of freezing wet people. We huddled together thinking only about survival through the treacherous sea.
The journey has only just begun, will we make it?!
