Descending the grand marble staircase, my steps echoed softly in the opulent ballroom adorned with intricate chandeliers and gilded decor. The flickering candlelight cast a warm glow, illuminating the graceful movements of women in elegant gowns and men in impeccably tailored suits swirling around the cold marble floor. The air was filled with the faint hum of laughter and music, creating an atmosphere of joy and sophistication that enveloped the room in an aura of timeless elegance.

From my vantage point on the staircase, I gazed around at the magnificent ballroom, taking in the splendour of the surroundings. The walls were adorned with rich tapestries depicting scenes of regal grandeur, while the polished marble floors reflected the shimmering light from the crystal chandeliers above. As I watched the dancers twirl and glide with effortless grace, I couldn't help but feel a sense of awe at the beauty of the scene unfolding before me. It was a moment frozen in time, a glimpse into a world of luxury and enchantment where every detail exuded senses of awe and

Bzzzz.

Bzzzzzz. The harsh ringing of my mobile phone cut me out of my fantasy landing me back on the cold floor of reality. The dull throb of a headache strung across my mind while I regained sense to the jumble of thoughts mingling in my head. As I struggled out of my disorientation, I looked around and my heart dropped as I noticed that I was no longer in my illusion, shielded from the discomfort of teenage parties. I could hear the faint sound of music blasting from speakers combined with the incessant chatter of drunken youths. Olfactory smells of vomit and cheap booze wafted across the room reminding me of my anxieties.

I sat in the corner.

I was alone.
