The Magic Party

Erin Waldron
Year 3 Notre Dame School

Once there was a girl called Leah, she loved parties. That was good because one bright morning she got a party invitation on her pillow. It was a magic party and was taking place the very same evening!

Leah’s fairy, witch and wizard friends would be there - she only ever met them in magic dreamland before.

The party started with magic rides. Leah went on the flying rollercoaster – it had no tracks! Next an underwater adventure where she was protected by a magic bubble from the pink sharkicorns and orange electric eels with eight feet that wore high heels like her mother.

Leah entered a magic spelling competition and won – it wasn’t easy because she had to spell the words backwards and upside down.

Dinner was a story itself. Because she was at a magic festival her tummy didn’t just inwardly say it was yum to her brain – it actually said the words out loud without her mouth moving. Everyone said goodnight and looked forward to the next day of the party.

Yes – it was a 2-day party. In the morning her group ate ostrich eggs and hash browns that were pink. There was a magic disco with a giant mirrorball made from shiny lobsters and diamonds. Humans had to dance on their hands. Leah was glad she had practiced gymnastics.

Later there were separate treat areas for the witches, fairies, and people so everyone could stop talking and take a siesta. Spider cupcakes for witches, orange roses with black speckles for fairies plus sweets and chocolate for the humans.

Evening entertainment included a mermaid gymnast and a kindly rock n roll vampire. Also, a pool party – the water was green and bubbling. Eventually it was home time. Leah ran to her mum smiling!
