I look up into the night sky and let my mind wander. We are triangles in a world full of squares. No matter the effort, we’ll never reach the ever-changing criteria to fit. No amount of changing yourself to be the perfect contender could ever fix that. Nature is about pulling yourself out of the present to take a glimpse of the real world. Of its issues and struggles and it’s love and tenderness. I put my hand up as if interlocking my fingers with the stars. The tiny pinpricks of light smile down at me, confirming my thoughts. The crisp air of the night lingers on my face, leaving a trail of mini red footprints wandering across my skin. The stars and the Earth are begging to be heard. Everyone’s so fixed on their lives to notice the wonders this Earth has to offer. The towering snowy hills which give home to many forms of wildlife, the tumbling of water down rocky terrains determined to reach their purpose in this world, the gathering of trees to form shelter for many species, the cascading of water down rocks, the falling of swirling ice which dance upon our tongues, even the sounds of birds talking and singing, welcoming the day. This is a different world, an almost forgotten one. A world where no person is a triangle or a square, we’re just shapes in a world full of colour and awe. As I lay back and watch the stars, I’m not thinking about my conflict or my battles. I’m merely awestruck by the beams of light glistening above. A stolen moment out of my complicated life to admire such a beauty. But these stolen moments don’t have to be just stolen moments. Because stars don’t shine forever and neither do we.
