Toasty and the Buzzard

On a sunny morning in June, the busy bees were flying from flower to flower in a quiet and peaceful island called Lihou.
Suddenly there was a loud squawk and an evil pheasant with a tail as long as the equator, took over the beehive and ate up all of their hard work of sweet honey. Unfortunately, it was Toasty the baby bee’s birthday and the pheasant stole all of his presents.
Toasty was heartbroken, so he flew away quickly with a sad buzzzzzzzz. He flew very fast and very far over deep blue sea and over tall willow trees.
He ended up in a dark spiky hedge and realised he was lost. The baby bumble bee felt afraid and wanted to find his mum.
In the distance, he heard something making a tweeting noise. Toasty followed the tweets and then could see colourful Feathers poking through the crunchy leaves. Then a small head popped out, which was bright yellow like the sun with an orange beak like fire. It was a buzzard.
Toasty told the buzzard that he needed help to get back home. “My home is the blue beehive on Lihou island“, buzzed Toasty. “I will help you find your way home”, shouted the buzzard excitedly. The buzzard told Toasty to sit on his back, and they flew off. They passed daffodils as white as snow, bumpy squidgy seaweed and colourful jellyfish.
They passed the yellow beehive, and Toasty cried “That is not my home”, so they carried on flying. They flew over dark green stinging nettles, rock pools full of hollow seashells and smooth long leaves. They flew toward the blue beehive and Toasty was excited because he saw his kind mum. His mum had scared the pheasant away, and the whole bee family was so happy that the baby bee came home. The mum hugged Toasty and wrapped her caring wings around him so that she wouldn’t lose him again.
